From the first moment I started using technology I got fascinated by it. This fascination grew into a for understanding and maximizing the potential of every piece of tech I could get my hands on. This journey led me to virtual reality (VR) with the first consumer Oculus Rift. (yes, the good old Oculus days)
After days of experimenting and experiencing VR, I was sold on the way you can immerse others with VR. I showcased this to friends, family, and even hosted my first VR experience event. Ever since, I kept finding out new ways VR can be used. This led me to creating games and other interactive experiences.
I studied game development at the University of Arts Utrecht (HKU), where I quickly picked up programming and game design. For many projects I focussed on working with augmented- and virtual reality to specialize working with these technologies. This allowed me to experiment a lot with different technologies. This experimentation made me to discover which design choices do and do not work. These skills were refined over the years, allowing me to make innovative projects, like a system which allows users to bend and break 3D models in VR. You can check out my Advanced Mesh Interaction - Performant VR Focused Mesh Deformation and Slicing package at the Unity Asset Store.
Throughout this journey, sharing information with others and helping them make further steps has been a great motivation as well. This started out with making YouTube videos when I was 14, resulting in the channels Tech Dunk and Dev Dunk now, where I helped more than 6 million people with guides and reviews.
This passion to educate others also showed in other work I did, like helping elderly with electronics. This is something I did for many years, only stopping to focus on my studies. Educating others also showed in my sport career, since I trained and coached multiple basketball teams throughout the years, inspiring “Dunk” in Dunk Technologies.
Dunk Technologies is where I bring together all my skills and interests. Not only do I develop cutting-edge experiences for multiple platforms, but I also host workshops to increase your understanding of immersive technologies. In these workshops, we dive into the latest available technologies and even speculate on the future innovations. You'll experience these technologies through various demos and afterwards participate in an interactive concepting session, learning how to work with immersive technologies.
Workshops like these excite me because they allow me to combine my love for technology with my drive to help others achieve more.
Of course, there is more to it than just reading about me. Feel free to reach out to me with any question or comment you have. I would love to hear from you and explore ways we can work together.
